The HR Booth are delighted to be recruiting for a Defence Researcher (within the Defence Insight Content team) on behalf of Shephard Group.

Please note that this is an initial full-time contract for six months with the potential for extension.

THE ROLE

ACCOUNTABILITIES

We are seeking Defence Researchers to join the Defence Insight Content team to provide project-specific equipment updates for our Defence Insight database, as well as support the work of our team of Defence Analysts on programme and equipment entries.

The accountabilities within the role include

  • Conducting open-source desk research on military equipment and programmes (these data are then entered into our online database tool in line with relevant methodologies).
  • Working on data projects to develop specific data sets to support the analysis team in building data models and methodologies.
  • Monitoring news and events to provide daily updates on the Defence Insight database.
  • Working collaboratively with various functions throughout the division including business development, editorial, analysis, customer support, product and marketing.
  • Using the data we hold in Defence Insight and content generated by our editorial team to create market forecasts and bespoke reports.

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

We are looking for candidates with

  • A passion for defence.
  • Experience and/or knowledge of the defence sector and/or military equipment.
  • A proactive approach to research and the ability to identify, use and synthesise information from multiple perspectives and sources.
  • An enquiring mind and an ability to communicate clearly and effectively.
  • Attention to detail, working well with both numerical data and qualitative writing.
  • Fluency in Microsoft Office suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, Power Point, etc.)

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelors degree or recent graduate in a relevant field or equivalent relevant work experience.
  • WHAT WE WILL NEED FROM YOU

  • Availability to attend our quarterly company meetings in person.
  • A business quality internet connection in your home (your place of work) in order to conduct this role effectively.
  • A willingness to work within the EOS framework, which is the management operating system implemented by Shephard.
  • The right to work in the UK unfortunately, we are unable to consider applicants based outside of the UK and Shephard will not be sponsoring visas for this role.
