We are looking for an Assistant Restaurant Manager to be part of our team for The Hoxton, Southwark in our restaurant Albie. The Hoxton, Southwark is located near the South Bank, with 192 rooms, a ground-floor restaurant, bar and terrace, The Apartment (a unique meeting & events space), a rooftop restaurant and bar with indoor and outdoor seating, plus a coworking space spread over six floors.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the team by example, keeping them engaged, motivated and confident in delivering warm, genuine Seabird experiences.
  • Work closely with the Restaurant Manager and kitchen leadership to ensure front and back of house operate seamlessly together.
  • Support the Restaurant Manager with the day-to-day running of the restaurant, including rotas, training, payroll checks and basic financial administration.
  • Help onboard and train new team members, ensuring brand standards, service steps and safety procedures are understood and followed.
  • Create a positive and inclusive team culture by giving regular feedback, coaching in the moment and supporting development.
  • Be present on the floor, anticipating guest needs, handling feedback and resolving complaints with care and confidence.
  • Ensure high standards of food and beverage presentation, cleanliness, stock control and compliance with food safety and licensing requirements.
  • Share guest insights and operational ideas with the wider F&B team to help continuously improve the Seabird experience.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience as a supervisor or assistant manager in a busy, quality-led restaurant or bar environment.
  • A solid understanding of front-of-house operations, service standards and people management basics.
  • Comfortable working a rotating shift pattern, including evenings, weekends and peak trading periods.
  • Confident communicator in English; additional languages are a plus.
  • Organised and detail-focused, while staying flexible and calm under pressure.
  • Someone who leads with personality and empathy, not ego.
  • A genuine passion for hospitality and creating memorable guest moments.
  • A team player who enjoys getting stuck in and supporting others to succeed.
