We are seeking a dedicated Lead Medical Teaching Assistant at West Hill School to take responsibility for the delivery and oversight of medical procedures, pupil care plans, and intimate care plans across our school. Working closely with colleagues, families, and external professionals, you will play a key role in ensuring pupils with additional medical needs can thrive, learn, and access every opportunity. You will also support classroom teams and, as required, lead small groups of pupils in response to their individual needs. This is a vital, hands‑on role ideally suited to someone calm, compassionate, organised, and committed to exceptional care.
Key Responsibilities
- Leading the delivery of medical routines, procedures, and care plans
- Creating, monitoring and updating medical and intimate care plans
- Supporting and guiding Teaching Assistants in providing safe, effective care
- Working with external agencies and professionals as required
- Contributing to pupils' learning, well‑being, and personal development
- Ensuring all medical procedures are carried out in line with school policies and safeguarding protocols
- Supporting pupils and class teams across the school
- Managing resources, supplies, and relevant documentation
- Responding to enquiries and reporting concerns in line with safeguarding and school procedures
Qualifications and Skills
- Minimum 5 GCSEs (Grade C or above) including English and Maths
- Experience or qualifications related to care, nursing, or medical processes
- Good understanding of Health & Safety and safeguarding responsibilities
- Strong communication skills and ability to build positive relationships
- Competence with standard IT tools
- Ability to prioritise, organise your workload, and work on your own initiative
- Experience mentoring or supporting junior colleagues
