We’re seeking a trustee with SEND experience to support The How2Hub. You will help ensure full inclusion from the outset, shaping delivery so it works for all learners, including those with additional needs, across schools and real-world career experiences.
What difference will you make? This role will ensure that inclusion is built into the organisation from the outset. While there is strong engagement and early delivery, ensuring that all learners can access and benefit from the programme is critical to long-term impact. By bringing SEND expertise, the trustee will help the board make better-informed decisions about design and delivery. This includes ensuring that resources, experiences and employer engagement are accessible and appropriate for a wide range of needs. The role will also strengthen credibility with schools and partners. Demonstrating that inclusion is embedded at board level reinforces that the organisation is committed to supporting all learners, not just a subset. Ultimately, the impact of this role is increased access and engagement. Well-designed, inclusive delivery will enable more students to participate meaningfully, leading to better outcomes and a more equitable approach to early careers exposure.
What are we looking for? We are looking for someone with strong experience in SEND and inclusion within an education setting. This could include roles such as SENCO, Head of Learning Support, or senior leadership with responsibility for inclusion. The most important requirement is practical experience of supporting students with a range of additional needs, and an understanding of how to design and deliver inclusive provision within the constraints of a school environment. We are particularly interested in someone who can translate inclusive principles into practical approaches. Experience of working across schools or within a trust would be beneficial, particularly in understanding how inclusive practice can be applied consistently at scale. An understanding of neurodiversity, sensory needs and differentiated learning approaches would add value, especially in shaping how real-world experiences are structured. The role would suit someone who can provide clear, practical guidance while contributing to wider strategic discussions. A key responsibility will be advising on how programmes, site visits and resources can be designed to work for a wide range of learners, including those with additional needs. This includes ensuring that delivery is practical for schools, accessible for students, and aligned with inclusive practice. You will work with the board to review and shape content, identifying where adjustments or adaptations may be needed. This may include supporting the development of approaches that reflect different learning styles, sensory needs and engagement strategies. The role will also help ensure that inclusion is considered in employer engagement, so that workplace experiences are accessible and supportive for all students. There is scope to contribute to or support a SEND-focused sub-group as the organisation grows, helping maintain consistency and depth in this area. This is an important stage.
