The role ensures alignment with curriculum, Gatsby Benchmarks and inspection frameworks, and supports the adoption of meaningful careers experiences from Year 6 onwards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assess proposed programmes for realism and feasibility within the school context.
  • Shape how curriculum‑linked experiences fit within timetabling, staffing and workload constraints.
  • Identify practical barriers to adoption and advise the board on strategies to overcome them.
  • Help the board understand school decision‑making processes and improve the credibility of the platform.
  • Work with other trustees to align education delivery with employer engagement and funding activities.
  • Support the development of an education‑focused sub‑group or act as a liaison between the board and pilot schools.
  • Ensure resources are usable, relevant and easy to adopt for teachers.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Strong, current or recent experience in schools, MAT or senior leadership team (headteacher, deputy head, curriculum lead or senior pastoral leader).
  • Practical insight into implementation of initiatives, including timetabling, staff workload, curriculum pressures and new programme roll‑outs.
  • Experience delivering careers education, employer engagement or Gatsby Benchmarks preferred.
  • Ability to translate strategy into practice and quickly assess realism and learning impact.
  • Experience working across multiple schools – within a MAT or local authority – to understand variation and scalability.
