House of Bruar 'Scotland's Finest Store' seeks an experienced, commercially aware retail manager with a passion for art, antiques and country life, to play a key role in the exciting evolution of our Art Gallery. A constant presence within our beautiful Gallery space, the Gallery Manager will lead a small team to deliver an exceptional visitor experience, build warm and productive relationships with collectors and artists, and drive sales through excellent product knowledge and inspiring storytelling.
The successful candidate for this wonderful opportunity will have excellent interpersonal and management skills and a good track record in commercial gallery management or within luxury retail. The opportunity may suit someone looking for a settled, non-seasonal role, moving away from the instability of an independent gallery or seasonal business. Country Sports including Field Sports are at the heart of the Gallery's offering, and whilst a practical enthusiasm for field sports is not a requirement, your core values should be aligned with traditional country pursuits.

Responsibilities
- Actively engage with visitors, collectors, and clients to provide knowledgeable guidance on artworks and artists.
- Build relationships with customers interested in Scottish wildlife art, landscapes, and rural-inspired pieces.
- Drive sales through consultative selling and personalised service.
- Handle high-value transactions and liaise with collectors and international clients.
- Assist with selecting and rotating artwork within the gallery to create cohesive exhibitions.
- Curate displays that reflect Scotland’s natural landscapes, countryside culture, and wildlife heritage.
- Ensure artworks are presented in a way that tells a compelling story and enhances the customer experience.
- Work closely with artists and suppliers to maintain a diverse and high-quality collection.
- Coordinate deliveries, exhibitions, and installations of new artwork.
- Support promotional events, artist showcases, and private viewings.
- Monitor sales performance and contribute to commercial targets.
- Support gallery marketing initiatives and seasonal campaigns.
Qualifications
Essential:
- Previous experience in retail management, gallery management, or luxury retail.
- Strong interest in fine art, antiques, countryside culture, or Scottish heritage.
- Excellent customer service and relationship-building skills.
- Confident sales ability with a consultative approach.
- Strong organisational and team leadership skills.
Desirable:
