We are looking for a Senior Staff Nurse (Band 6) to work on our inpatient unit at St Johns Hospice in London. The inpatient unit has 17 beds in a mixture of bays and single rooms. We care for patients needing end of life care, symptom control or respite who have specialist palliative care needs. Patients and their families are cared for by our Multi Disciplinary Team which consists of nurses, doctors, occupational therapy, physiotherapy, social work, bereavement support and spiritual support. We pride ourselves on delivering holistic care which focuses on what matters to the patient. Our patients can also access a range of complimentary therapies including reflexology, massage, acupuncture and reiki.
Located in leafy St John’s Wood on the Jubilee line, minutes from Central London, our independent private Hospital has just been rated the number one in the country for care in the latest Bupa survey. Uniquely, all profits fund our onsite Hospice, St John’s.
Main responsibilities of the Hospice Senior Staff Nurse Role:
- To maintain continuous high standards of skilled nursing care and professional practice through evidence based practice.
- To promote a progressive attitude to the continual improvement of patient care through research and evidence based practice.
- To act as a role model and expert clinical practitioner.
- To supervise and teach both trained staff, health care assistants and student nurses.
- To assist the Ward Manager in all aspects of leadership and management of the hospice in-patient unit.
- To assist in the coordination of services provided by the inpatient unit, and to contribute to the day to day running of the service.
- To assist, where necessary, in the provision of other services provided by the hospice.
