We are seeking a compassionate, motivated Healthcare Assistant (Band 3) to join our dynamic multidisciplinary team at our St Elizabeth Ward. This is an excellent opportunity to develop your clinical skills within a supportive environment specialising in Orthopaedic and General Surgery.
Main duties of the job:
- Our ward consists of 16 single ensuite rooms and provides care for a wide range of surgical patients.
- Procedures include joint replacements, fracture repairs, spinal and soft tissue surgeries, breast, ENT, gynaecological, gastrointestinal, urology, cosmetic and trauma-related surgeries.
Job responsibilities:
- As a Healthcare Assistant, you will play a vital part in delivering high quality clinical and personal care to patients under the supervision of Registered Nurses and other healthcare professionals.
- Your work will help maintain patient comfort, dignity, and safety at all times.
- You will contribute to a wide range of clinical activities, including:
- Supporting the planning and delivery of individualised, evidence-based patient care.
- Taking and recording patient observations, including vital signs, ECGs, venepuncture and cannulation (with training and competency evidence).
- Assisting with surgical admissions, theatre preparation, postoperative care, and patient discharge.
- Providing personal care such as bathing, feeding, and supporting activities of daily living.
- Maintaining a safe, clean environment and adhering to Infection Prevention and Control standards.
- Escorting patients to other departments or hospitals as required.
- Completing accurate nursing documentation in line with hospital policies.
- You will also undertake daily, weekly, and monthly safety checks and support the operational management of the ward when required.
Person Specification:
- NVQ Level 2 in Health Care.
- Experience working in a clinical or healthcare setting.
- Evidence of direct patient care.
- Ability to communicate effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Understanding of patient confidentiality and data protection.
- Evidence of mandatory training.
- Ability to take and record vital signs.
- Excellent communication, organisational and time-management skills.
- Compassionate, calm under pressure, flexible and committed to professional development.
