About the Hospice Lottery Partnership
Established in 1997, the Hospice Lottery Partnership is a not-for-profit social enterprise dedicated to raising vital funds for our partner charities through a weekly lottery and seasonal draws and raffles. Our mission is to support charities that provide essential care to communities. Our supporters have the chance to win significant prizes while making a meaningful difference to patients and their families. To date, we have donated £22.5 million back to our partners.
Our partner charities
We proudly support: Florence Nightingale Hospice Charity, Michael Sobell Hospice Charity, Rennie Grove Hospice Care, The Hospice of St Francis, East and North Hertfordshire Hospitals’ Charity, Hillingdon Hospitals Charity, and London North West Healthcare Charity.
The role
We are looking for an experienced, high-performing face-to-face salesperson who is ready to lead. As Team Leader, you will combine your own field sales with recruiting, developing and coaching other fundraisers. You will lead by example, keeping a strong personal sales presence while helping the wider team to grow and succeed. Your own sales performance will be the main measure of success, and you will have the opportunity to take on greater responsibility for training and mentoring as your team develops.
You will always represent HLP and our hospice partners professionally and positively, and ensure that our work meets all relevant legal, regulatory and company requirements, including those of the Gambling Commission and the Fundraising Regulator.
Key responsibilities
- Achieve your target of subscriptions per sales day and per week.
- Work primarily at HLP venues, delivering high-quality supporter interactions.
- Make sure every subscription is completed accurately and in line with HLP procedures.
- Maintain strong standards of customer engagement, with a focus on both sales performance and supporter retention.
Team recruitment and development
- Recruit and help build your own team of HLP sales canvassers.
- Support the onboarding, training and development of new team members.
- Coach colleagues to improve sales performance, confidence, consistency and retention.
- Provide coaching and performance support to other HLP and Hospital Trust canvassers where needed.
- Work closely with the Sales Manager so that the wider team has the support it needs to meet its targets.
- Identify and develop new HLP sales venues.
- Build strong relationships with venue contacts and make the most of existing venues.
- Help increase the number and quality of opportunities available to the sales team.
Performance and reporting
- Monitor and report on your own sales performance and that of new team members.
- Track cancellations and retention, and respond to any issues you identify.
- Plan, document and report on your coaching activity and the progress of the colleagues you support.
- Deliver additional KPIs relating to recruitment, coaching and venue development.
About you
You are an experienced, consistently high-performing face-to-face salesperson who enjoys helping others to do well too. You will bring:
- Confidence, a positive outlook and real motivation to achieve sales targets.
- A natural ability to coach, motivate and develop other people.
- Comfort in taking responsibility and working independently in the field.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to build good relationships with colleagues, venue facilitators and members of the public.
- Organisation and reliability, and the ability to balance your own sales performance with leadership responsibilities.
- A commitment to the values and purpose of HLP and our charity partners.
What we offer
Our reward package recognises both your own results and the team you build:
- Salary of £50,000 – £60,000 FTE, made up of a £32,000 basic salary plus uncapped personal sales commission.
- Incentives for recruiting sales canvassers, developing new venues, and coaching.
- Employer pension contribution of 5%.
- 25 days’ holiday plus bank holidays, and an additional birthday leave day.
- Employee Assistance Program.
- Consideration of flexible working, such as four days a week, for the right candidate.
Our recruitment process follows the below structure:
- Stage 1 - 15 minute screening call to establish experience and provide an overview of the company and the role
- Stage 2 - Video interview with Sales Manager to go through the role and responsibilities in detail
- Stage 3 - In-person interview at HLP offices to explore specific experience & cultural fit
We aim to get back to candidates promptly and always provide feedback on the interviews. The successful candidate can start immediately but we will wait for the right person to work notice.
