Our cafés are bustling community hubs, offering a vibrant menu crafted with care. We are expanding our Cafe presence in the beautiful surroundings at the Horniman Cafe and are on the look-out for an experienced Sous Chef to join our team. What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Supporting the Head Chef – ensuring smooth kitchen operations and high food quality.
  • Supervising food safety & hygiene standards – maintaining a safe, clean and compliant kitchen.
  • Preparing high-quality dishes – using fresh, seasonal ingredients to create our signature café menu.
  • Training & mentoring junior chefs – helping to develop skills and maintain consistency.
  • Managing food prep & cooking – ensuring consistency, speed, and presentation standards.
  • Overseeing stock management – supporting ordering, stock take, entering stock, and stock reconciliation.
  • Ensuring kitchen organisation – keeping a clean, efficient, and well-stocked work environment.
  • Working as part of a team – supporting colleagues to keep operations running smoothly.

What We’re Looking For:

  • A skilled & passionate chef – with previous experience as a Sous or Senior Chef de Partie.
  • A hands-on team player – supporting the Head Chef and leading by example.
  • A quality-obsessed cook – who takes pride in using fresh, seasonal ingredients.
  • An organised & efficient operator – experienced in stock control, waste management, and food cost control.
  • A problem-solver – able to think on your feet and handle the unexpected.
  • A flexible & adaptable attitude – happy to work weekends and peak periods like school holidays.
