As HSH Group (owner and operator of The Peninsula Hotels) continues to invest in its global portfolio of luxury hotels and property assets, we are seeking an accomplished Director of Interior Design to provide strategic and creative direction across our developments, refurbishments, and capital programmes. Lead interior design from early‑stage feasibility and concept development through to project delivery, ensuring that all interior outcomes reflect Peninsula’s design integrity while seamlessly integrating guest experience, brand expression, operational performance, and commercial objectives. The position works closely with internal stakeholders and leading international consultants, while also producing selected in‑house concepts and feasibility studies.
Key Accountabilities
- Provide overall leadership for interior design across hotel and property CAPEX projects, refurbishments, repositioning initiatives, and new‑build developments.
- Develop internal interior design concepts, feasibility studies, space planning solutions, and test‑fits to support early‑stage decision‑making.
- Translate brand positioning, guest experience aspirations, and operational requirements into clear, cohesive interior design strategies.
- Act as the owner‑side interior design lead, managing and coordinating external interior designers, FF&E consultants, and specialist advisors.
- Lead the interior design process from concept development through to construction documentation, ensuring alignment with approved intent, design standards, budgets, and programme.
- Review and guide interior design documentation at all stages to ensure consistency with HSH brand standards, technical requirements, and commercial objectives.
- Prepare design schedules and ensure alignment with overall project programmes.
- Compile comprehensive design intent and design brief packages for tendering and execution, including annotated drawings, concept narratives, reference imagery, and sample boards.
- Develop and deliver visual presentations using a mix of hand sketches, 3D renderings, and digital tools to clearly communicate design intent to senior leadership, operators, and external partners.
- Collaborate closely with project management, development, operations, branding, and procurement teams to support informed decision‑making and smooth project delivery.
- Present design concepts and feasibility options to senior management and support value engineering exercises while safeguarding Peninsula’s design integrity and guest experience quality.
- Support planning approvals, statutory submissions, and engagement with relevant regulatory authorities.
General Requirements
- Degree qualified in Interior Design, or a related discipline.
- Significant experience in senior interior design roles within luxury hospitality, mixed‑use developments.
- Proven ability to lead complex projects from concept through to delivery in an owner‑side or design leadership capacity.
- Strong verbal (English) and visual communication skills, with the ability to articulate design intent clearly to executive and operational stakeholders.
- Commercially astute, with experience balancing design excellence, programme, and budget considerations.
