  • Hands-on maintenance – carrying out repairs, decorating and general upkeep without contractor support where possible
  • Health & safety responsibilities – completing routine checks, fire alarm testing, drills and water hygiene monitoring
  • Systems monitoring – overseeing heating, cooling and lighting systems and reporting faults
  • Contractor coordination – arranging, supervising and signing off planned and emergency works
  • Seasonal and specialist tasks – gritting, spill clean-ups, graffiti removal and keeping grounds tidy
  • Logistics and stock control – furniture moves, porterage, equipment management and waste collection
  • Pride in presentation – ensuring the school always looks clean, well maintained and welcoming

Safeguarding, Compliance and Professional Practice

  • Follow all policies relating to safeguarding, health and safety, security and confidentiality
  • Report any concerns promptly to the appropriate senior staff member
  • Uphold company values and maintain high standards of professional conduct
  • Participate in training, performance reviews and ongoing professional development
  • Carry out duties efficiently, effectively and economically at all times

Who we are looking for

  • Full UK Driving Licence
  • Proven experience maintaining buildings and facilities to a high standard
  • Strong practical, DIY or handyman skills
  • Previous caretaking, maintenance or grounds experience (school or similar setting desirable)
  • A proactive, reliable and self-motivated approach
  • Pride in your work and a commitment to excellence
