We are recruiting for an experienced Surveyor on behalf of a leading telecommunications infrastructure contractor. This is an excellent opportunity to join a growing team responsible for delivering critical network infrastructure projects across the UK. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting detailed site surveys, assessing underground telecoms infrastructure, interpreting network designs, and ensuring proposed routes and installations are viable before works commence. This role would suit candidates with experience in telecoms, utilities, highways, civils, fibre networks, or other infrastructure environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out field surveys of underground telecoms infrastructure, including UGDP routes and midway joints
- Open and inspect chambers to assess existing network assets and cable routes
- Interpret network schematics, cabling maps, and street-based design drawings
- Verify site conditions against proposed designs and identify any discrepancies
- Assess streetworks requirements and traffic management needs
- Ensure compliance with NRSWA and Chapter 8 requirements
- Capture survey data using digital reporting systems and mapping software
- Produce accurate survey reports, photographs, and supporting documentation
- Liaise with planners, engineers, and project delivery teams
- Maintain high standards of health and safety at all times
Essential Requirements
- Previous experience as a Surveyor within telecoms, utilities, civils, highways, or infrastructure sectors
- Ability to read and interpret utility drawings, network plans, and cabling schematics
- NRSWA Accreditation
- Chapter 8 experience
- Telecoms network survey experience
- Experience using GIS, mapping, or digital survey systems
- Strong attention to detail and organisational skills
- Full UK Driving Licence
Desirable
- Experience surveying fibre or underground telecoms networks
- Knowledge of streetworks permitting processes
- Experience working within Openreach, PIA, or network build environments
