We're recruiting on behalf of a leading infrastructure client for an experienced Power Estimator to join their growing energy and utilities division. This is a key role within the business, responsible for producing accurate, commercially sound estimates for high-voltage electrical infrastructure projects across 11kV to 132kV networks, including renewable energy and battery storage schemes.
The Role
As Power Estimator, you will play a critical part in the pre-construction and tendering process, producing detailed cost estimates and supporting the successful bidding of complex electrical infrastructure projects. You will be working across a variety of schemes including:
- Solar PV connections
- Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS)
- High Voltage (HV) & Extra High Voltage (EHV) network works
- ICP contestable works and DNO interface projects
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare accurate cost estimates for 11kV-132kV electrical infrastructure projects
- Interpret technical drawings, single line diagrams, and grid connection designs
- Produce pricing for ICP contestable works and DNO non-contestable elements
- Assess labour, materials, plant, and subcontractor costs
- Liaise with engineers, project managers, and commercial teams to develop tender submissions
- Review and assess grid connection requirements and technical specifications
- Work with supply chain partners to obtain accurate and competitive pricing
- Identify risks, constraints, and opportunities within tender documentation
- Support bid strategy and commercial decision-making
About You
We are looking for someone with strong technical knowledge of power distribution and estimating within the utilities sector. You will ideally have:
- Experience estimating HV/EHV electrical infrastructure projects
- Strong understanding of ICP and DNO processes
- Experience within solar, BESS, or renewable energy connections
- Knowledge of 11kV-132kV network design and installation
- Strong commercial awareness and attention to detail
- Ability to interpret technical drawings and grid connection documents
- Experience working within utilities, power, or electrical infrastructure sectors
Desirable Experience
- Previous work with ICPs, DNOs, or electrical contractors
- Experience in bid preparation or tendering environments
- Understanding of National Grid connection processes
- Familiarity with civils associated with electrical infrastructure projects
