We are currently recruiting enthusiastic, resilient, and compassionate Support Staff to join an incredible Alternative Provision setting across West Sussex on both a temporary and permanent basis. The provision provides education and support for children and young people across West Sussex who have been permanently excluded, are at risk of exclusion, or are currently out of education for medical reasons. The provision prides itself on offering a fresh and positive approach to learning, focusing not only on educational progress but also on supporting pupils' social, emotional, and behavioural development. With specialist centres, inclusion teams, and blended learning support, the school works closely with pupils to overcome barriers to learning and help them move forward towards a positive future.
The Role
- Support students with social, emotional, and behavioural needs
- Build positive and trusting relationships with young people
- Help create a safe, engaging, and supportive learning environment
- Work closely with teaching staff and wider multidisciplinary teams
- Support pupils both inside and outside of the classroom
- Help students regulate emotions and engage positively with learning
- Experience working with children or young people with challenging behaviour, SEMH, SEN, or additional needs
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills
- A genuine passion for supporting vulnerable young people
- Experience in education, care, youth work, coaching, support work, or mental health settings is highly desirable
