Are you an engineer who thrives on variety, independence and hands-on problem solving? We’re looking for a Field Service Engineer to join our team, supporting customers across North West London. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys being out in the field, building strong customer relationships and taking pride in delivering high-quality technical support.

About the Role

You will be responsible for servicing and repairing a wide range of construction machinery and equipment. Using both your mechanical expertise and computer-based diagnostic tools, you’ll ensure machines stay safe, reliable and productive for our customers. Alongside technical work, you’ll also look for opportunities to add value, recommend additional services and work closely with customer support teams and management to ensure a smooth, professional experience.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Carry out servicing, repairs and routine maintenance on construction machinery and associated equipment.
  • Diagnose mechanical and electrical issues using technical knowledge and diagnostic software.
  • Provide clear advice and guidance to customers on equipment condition and recommended actions.
  • Work in a commercially aware way, spotting opportunities for additional service work and sharing these with customers and your Line Manager.
  • Follow job quotes and time allocations, escalating any extra work needed.
  • Install updated software versions as they are released.
  • Complete real-time tablet reporting, including job details, timesheets and service records.
  • Order required parts and return used parts cleanly and promptly at job completion.
  • Be available for overtime and reasonable call-out requests.
  • Attend relevant technical or product training to stay up to date.

Requirements – Skills and Experience

  • A recognised qualification in Plant Maintenance, Agricultural or HGV Mechanics, or a related field (NVQ Level 3 or similar).
  • Previous experience maintaining and repairing heavy construction equipment.
  • Strong technical understanding of diesel engines, driveline systems, hydraulics, electrics and transmissions.
  • Advanced fault-finding and diagnostic abilities.
  • Able to communicate clearly with colleagues, managers and customers.
  • Cost-aware approach to ensure efficient and profitable work.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and an analytical mindset.
  • Confident using computer systems and Outlook.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Conscientious, reliable and trustworthy.
  • Able to read and understand technical manuals and system information.

  • Welding and fabrication experience.
