Together with our client we are seeking a practical, detail-focused Compliance Engineer with a plumbing background to carry out statutory compliance tasks across a static site. This hands-on role involves scheduled testing, monitoring, and preventative maintenance works to ensure building water systems meet legal and safety standards. The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of plumbing systems and previous experience delivering compliance tasks such as tap temperature monitoring, TMV servicing, and showerhead descaling.
Key Responsibilities:
- Carry out water temperature monitoring and record results in line with ACOP L8 and HSG274 guidance
- Perform descaling and disinfection of taps, showerheads, and outlets to control Legionella risk
- Inspect, service, and replace thermostatic mixing valves (TMVs) as required
- Complete and update all compliance records, logs, and service sheets accurately and on time
- Identify and report any non-compliant systems, equipment failures, or remedial requirements
- Assist with minor plumbing repairs, such as replacing washers, isolation valves, or fittings where required during compliance visits
- Work with internal teams and clients to ensure transparency, access arrangements, and reporting are effectively managed
- Support additional statutory compliance tasks where trained (e.g. emergency lighting checks, fire damper inspections)
- Ensure all work is carried out in accordance with current health & safety legislation and company policies
Essential Skills & Experience:
- Strong background in plumbing, with NVQ Level 2 or equivalent qualification
- Previous experience delivering compliance maintenance in commercial or public buildings
- Good understanding of Legionella control requirements, ACOP L8 and water hygiene best practices
- Ability to complete clear, accurate documentation for compliance records
- Excellent attention to detail and time management skills
- Comfortable using handheld devices or CAFM systems for task management
- Full UK driving licence required
Desirable:
- WRAS approved
- Legionella Awareness Training (City & Guilds or equivalent)
- Experience with TMV maintenance, dead-leg identification, and water sampling
- CSCS or other relevant site safety card
