Due to a steady and sustainable increase in workload, we are looking for an experienced Commercial Plumber to join our thriving General Works and Maintenance team. This is your chance to be part of a well-established and growing company, working across a range of sectors including Education, Healthcare, Commercial, Defence and Research. You will be servicing clients across East Anglia (including Cambridge, Essex, Suffolk, Hertfordshire, and Norfolk), with occasional work in North London, offering variety and flexibility in your daily tasks.
As a Commercial Plumber, you will play a key role in the installation of industrial and commercial pipework systems, as well as handling occasional maintenance requirements. You will represent the company with pride and professionalism while ensuring high-quality workmanship across all projects. You will report directly to the General Works Manager. The core working hours are Monday to Friday, 7.30am to 4.00pm, with occasional weekend work and overtime as needed. Plus, you will enjoy excellent overtime rates to reward your hard work!
Overtime Pay:
- Time and a half for the first 12 hours of overtime
- Double time after 12 hours
- Saturdays: Time and a half for the first 6 hours, then double time
- Sundays: Double time
Key Responsibilities:
- Health & Safety: Ensure all health and safety policies, risk assessments, and method statements are followed.
- Project Ownership: Establish requirements for each project and lead the planning and installation of system components.
- Leadership: Supervise small teams, including subcontractors, ensuring smooth coordination and delivery.
- Collaboration: Liaise with other trades, clients, and main contractors to keep things running efficiently.
- Quality Control: Ensure all work meets the highest standards, and deadlines are consistently met.
- On-Call: Join the department's on-call rota for flexibility and support when needed.
What we are looking for:
We need someone who can take the initiative, work independently and demonstrate strong knowledge of health and safety regulations, water regulations and Building Regulations. Your experience in the industrial and commercial plumbing sectors will be key to your success in this role.
Essential Skills & Qualifications:
- C&G NVQ Level 2 in Plumbing and Heating (Level 3 is a bonus!)
- At least 3 years experience as a plumber/pipe fitter (with solid experience in industrial/commercial environments)
- Full driving license (A fully expensed company vehicle will be provided for work-related travel)
- CSCS card eligibility (Existing card preferred, but test can be arranged)
- Strong H&S knowledge and ability to work independently
Desirable Skills (but not essential training can be provided):
- SSTS or SMSTS qualification
- IPAF and PASMA (for access platforms)
- Asbestos Awareness/Management
- First Aid and Fire Marshall certification
