We are seeking an experienced and commercially driven EV Project Manager to lead the development, technical shaping, and pricing of Electric Vehicle (EV) infrastructure opportunities. The role focuses on converting early-stage client enquiries into fully developed, commercially viable, and technically deliverable projects across on-street charging, fleet charging, and High-Power Charging (HPC) programmes. You will bring practical electrical installation and infrastructure expertise into the bidding and project development process, ensuring all assumptions reflect real-world delivery conditions. A key part of the role is developing and managing a specialist supply chain, including electrical contractors, ICP partners, designers, and technology providers. You will also support NERS accreditation activity and contribute to building future in-house electrical delivery capability. The position carries pipeline and revenue targets and plays a central role in growing the EV infrastructure portfolio.

Key Responsibilities

  • Opportunity Development
    • Lead the development of technically sound and commercially viable EV infrastructure opportunities
    • Engage with clients and stakeholders to define scope and requirements
    • Support pipeline growth and conversion of new business opportunities
    • Identify strategic opportunities within the EV infrastructure market
  • Estimating and Commercial
    • Lead bid development and proposal preparation for EV infrastructure projects
    • Produce cost estimates and pricing models for charging infrastructure, grid connections, and civils works
    • Work with commercial teams to develop accurate and competitive submissions
    • Identify technical risks, programme constraints, and cost drivers
  • Supply Chain Management
    • Identify, onboard, and manage EV infrastructure supply chain partners
    • Develop relationships with electrical contractors, ICPs, designers, and technology providers
    • Ensure supply chain inputs support realistic and deliverable proposals
    • Monitor performance, capability, and compliance standards
  • Grid Connections and Technical Coordination
    • Coordinate with ICPs and DNOs on capacity and connection requirements
    • Support grid connection applications and technical submissions
    • Ensure compliance with DNO requirements and contestable works processes
    • Provide technical oversight during bid and development stages
  • NERS and Capability Development
    • Support NERS accreditation processes, including governance and technical standards
    • Contribute to developing internal electrical delivery capability
    • Promote continuous improvement and technical best practice
  • Safety and Compliance
    • Promote a safety-first culture across all projects and partners
    • Ensure compliance with UK electrical regulations and industry standards
    • Support safe systems of work and ongoing compliance initiatives

Skills and Experience

Essential

  • Significant experience delivering electrical installation or infrastructure projects
  • Experience in estimating, tendering, or bid development
  • Exposure to EV charging infrastructure or electrical vehicle charging systems
  • Experience managing subcontractors and supply chain partners
  • Strong commercial awareness with technical understanding
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills

Desirable

  • Large-scale infrastructure delivery experience
  • Knowledge of DNO, ICP, and grid connection processes
  • Bid management and structured tender experience
  • Experience mentoring or managing teams
  • EV infrastructure industry knowledge

Qualifications

  • NVQ Level 3 / City & Guilds Electrical Installation or equivalent
  • 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (BS 7671) desirable
  • City & Guilds 2391 Inspection and Testing desirable
  • EV charging installation qualification (City & Guilds 2919 or equivalent) desirable
  • Project management qualification preferred
  • Health and safety qualification desirable
