An established manufacturing business is looking to recruit a Facilities Engineer to support the reliability, compliance and day-to-day performance of site-wide engineering services and plant infrastructure. This is a varied role within a busy engineering function, suited to someone with a strong understanding of both mechanical and electrical facilities systems who enjoys balancing technical problem-solving, contractor coordination and hands-on engineering support.

Working closely with the engineering leadership team, you will help ensure critical site services remain safe, compliant and operational while supporting maintenance planning, reliability improvements and contractor management.

You will play a key role in supporting the performance and reliability of essential plant services and infrastructure across a manufacturing environment, helping to minimise downtime and maintain compliance with statutory requirements. Areas of responsibility are likely to include:

  • Electrical infrastructure and distribution systems
  • HVAC and extraction systems
  • Compressed air systems
  • Water and gas distribution services
  • Fire protection systems
  • Waste handling and industrial plant equipment
  • General facilities and support services engineering

You will also support maintenance planning activities, monitor asset performance and work closely with engineering colleagues to improve equipment reliability and reduce operational risk.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and support safe engineering practices across facilities and plant support services
  • Monitor asset performance and identify opportunities to improve reliability and operational efficiency
  • Assist with planned preventative and predictive maintenance strategies for critical facilities equipment
  • Support statutory compliance and engineering standards across site services and infrastructure
  • Liaise with contractors and service providers, helping to ensure cost-effective delivery and strong service performance
  • Investigate equipment failures and recurring issues
  • Produce reports, maintenance records and engineering documentation where required
  • Support engineering improvement projects and site investment activity to improve reliability and long-term performance
  • Assist with engineering resource planning to support operational requirements

What We’re Looking For

We are keen to speak with candidates who have experience within a manufacturing, industrial or process environment and can demonstrate a strong understanding of facilities engineering and plant support systems. You are likely to have:

  • Previous experience within a facilities engineering, plant services or maintenance engineering role
  • Good understanding of both mechanical and electrical engineering principles
  • Experience supporting critical site services and infrastructure within an industrial setting
  • A recognised engineering qualification such as HNC/HND (Mechanical, Facilities, Building Services or similar)
  • Knowledge of systems such as HVAC, compressed air, gas, water distribution, extraction or fire protection systems
  • Experience of maintenance planning, reliability improvement or CMMS systems (SAP advantageous)
  • Strong communication and organisational skills with a practical, solutions-focused mindset
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office packages including Excel and Word
