The Hippie Shake is looking for an experienced Freelance Paid Media Specialist to take ownership of our Meta and Google advertising on an ongoing basis.

Founded in 2016, The Hippie Shake is an independent fashion brand creating pieces inspired by the music, fashion and culture of the 60s and 70s.

We sell internationally, with the UK and North America as our key markets.

We’re bringing more of our marketing in-house and are looking for an experienced freelancer who can work closely with our internal team to manage, optimise and develop our paid media activity across Meta and Google.

This is not a creative production role.

We’ll provide the imagery, video and design assets for campaigns.

We’re looking for someone who knows how to turn those assets into commercially strong paid media campaigns, and who can advise us on where we should be focusing our spend and testing.

  • What you’ll be responsible for
  • You’ll take day-to-day ownership of paid media across Meta and Google, including:
  • Managing campaigns across the UK, US and Canada
  • Campaign setup, optimisation and ongoing account management
  • Budget allocation across platforms, campaigns and markets
  • Scaling campaigns while maintaining commercially viable returns
  • Developing and managing testing strategies
  • Prospecting and retargeting
  • Audience strategy
  • Google Shopping and Performance Max
  • Managing and optimising product feed-led campaigns
  • Developing paid media strategies around key product categories, hero items, launches and seasonal trading periods
  • Planning spend and campaign pacing with consideration for the different needs and trading patterns of each region
  • Managing UGC and influencer whitelisting within paid campaigns
  • Monitoring performance and identifying opportunities or issues
  • Making recommendations on creative requirements and future testing
  • Working with our team to plan activity around launches, promotions and key trading periods
  • Providing a concise weekly performance update
  • Providing more detailed monthly reporting and analysis
  • Joining a short weekly catch-up with our marketing team

Our current combined advertising spend across Meta and Google is approximately £10,000–£15,000 per month.

We’ll also provide access to an external marketing attribution/reporting platform such as Polar Analytics, Triple Whale or similar.

What we’re looking for

We’re looking for someone senior enough to work autonomously and confidently make recommendations rather than simply follow instructions.

You’ll need

  • Strong hands-on experience managing both Meta Ads and Google Ads
  • Significant experience working with fashion or apparel ecommerce brands
  • Experience personally managing paid media accounts with budgets broadly comparable to ours
  • A strong understanding of ecommerce performance marketing and the relationship between paid media, creative, merchandising and trading
  • Experience managing multiple international markets
  • Strong knowledge of Meta campaign structures, testing and scaling
  • Strong knowledge of Google Shopping, Performance Max and Search
  • Experience with UGC, influencer whitelisting and partnership ads
  • A commercially minded approach to metrics including ROAS, MER, CAC, new customer CAC and revenue growth
  • Confidence analysing performance and clearly explaining what is working, what isn’t and what should happen next
  • The ability to work collaboratively with an internal marketing and creative team

Experience working in-house for a DTC fashion brand, particularly one scaling internationally, would be a strong advantage.

This role is specifically for an individual freelancer who will personally work on and manage our accounts.

You can be based remotely, provided you’re able to work comfortably with a UK-based team.

Working with us

This will be an ongoing freelance relationship, most likely structured around a fixed monthly retainer.

Rather than specifying a set number of hours or days, we’d like applicants to recommend the level of support they believe is appropriate based on the scope above.

You’ll work primarily with our General Manager and Ecommerce & Marketing Coordinator, alongside our freelance creative and email specialists.

How to apply

Rather than applying through Linked In, please email with the subject line Freelance Paid Media Specialist.

Please include

  • Your CV or Linked In profile
  • Details of your experience managing paid media for fashion or apparel brands
  • The approximate monthly Meta and Google spend you’ve previously managed
  • 1–2 brief examples of commercial results you’ve achieved
  • Your proposed monthly retainer and an indication of the level of support/time this would include
  • Your current availability

We’re particularly interested in hearing from people with hands-on experience managing paid media for fashion ecommerce brands, who understand the realities of working with growing independent brands and budgets at this level.
