The Hillingdon Hospital wishes to appoint a registrar to work in the emergency general surgery, upper gastrointestinal surgery and colorectal units in the department of general surgery. This is a great opportunity for an early to mid-level registrar wishing to improve their general surgery laparoscopic skillset. The department has recently started a new benign upper GI surgical unit for anti-reflux surgery and hiatus hernia repair. There is a large colorectal cancer unit mainly involving robotic cancer surgery as well as abdominal wall reconstruction. The candidate would get exposure to this unit as well.

At present, this post does not have educational approval and is therefore a service post. This post is not recognised for training and full registration with the GMC will be required to undertake this position. This position will need covering to GS Day/ night On call rota.

Responsibilities

  • Work in the emergency general surgery, upper GI surgery and colorectal units within the department of general surgery.
  • Gain exposure to the benign upper GI unit for anti-reflux surgery and hiatus hernia repair, and to the colorectal cancer unit (robotic surgery) and abdominal wall reconstruction.
  • Cover GS day/night on-call rota as required.
