A Scottish upland path building company is looking to recruit Path Workers for contracts across the country. This is hands-on, outdoor work in the mountains, building and maintaining upland paths entirely by hand using shovels, mattocks, pinch bars, sledgehammers, winches, and smaller tools.
No previous experience is needed, but you must be physically very fit with good strength and real stamina. The work is outdoors all day, in all conditions, throughout the year, and you will spend long hours in rain, wind, cold and rough terrain. A genuine passion for the outdoors is essential.
You will live and work as part of a small team for extended periods, usually on an eight days on, six days off rota. You must be personable, reliable, and able to get on well with others.
Accommodation and food are provided, including breakfast, a packed lunch for the hill, and a communal evening meal. A driving licence and access to your own vehicle are essential, as the work takes place in remote mountain areas across Scotland.
If your application is successful, you will be invited to a minimum three day extended interview on site at a current work location, currently on An Teallach near Dundonnell. This is so you can experience the realities of the job and so the team can see if you are the right fit.
Hard work, a strong work ethic, and good character matter more than experience. All training is provided on the job.
