New Start Highland is recruiting a Finance Director to lead its finance function and support strategic decision making across the organisation. This role suits a qualified finance professional with senior level experience who wants to use their skills to support a values led organisation working across the Highlands.

The role:

  • Providing strategic financial leadership and professional advice to the Chief Executive and senior team.
  • Producing timely and reliable management information, including monthly management accounts, budgets, forecasts, and cash flow reporting.
  • Supporting organisational strategy through financial analysis, insight, and long term planning.
  • Acting as a business partner to senior managers, helping identify risks, opportunities, and performance improvements.
  • Managing statutory reporting, audit processes, and financial compliance.
  • Overseeing payroll, VAT returns, and core finance systems.
  • Managing the Accounts Assistant and maintaining strong internal financial controls.

Working pattern:

  • Based in Inverness with hybrid working available.
  • Flexible working arrangements supported where possible.
  • Attendance at leadership, management, and board meetings as required.

What we are looking for:

  • A degree level qualification.
  • A qualified member of a recognised accountancy body or equivalent qualification.
  • Significant senior level experience in financial or management accounting.
  • Strong knowledge of budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and confidently with senior stakeholders and boards.
  • A strategic and analytical approach with strong attention to detail.
  • Experience of the third sector is desirable but not essential.
