We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Quantity Surveyor / Estimator to support the commercial delivery of structural steel projects from tender stage through to final account. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates, managing project budgets, and providing commercial support throughout the project lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare accurate cost estimates and competitive tender submissions for structural steel projects.
  • Review and interpret drawings, specifications, and tender documentation to determine project scope and pricing.
  • Liaise with clients, architects, engineers, and other stakeholders to clarify project requirements.
  • Obtain and assess quotations from suppliers and subcontractors to ensure competitive pricing.
  • Prepare bills of quantities, cost plans, and detailed pricing schedules.
  • Monitor project costs, identify variations, and manage commercial implications throughout the construction phase.
  • Assist with contract administration, valuations, and the preparation of final accounts.
  • Provide commercial support and cost control advice to project teams.
  • Maintain accurate records of estimates, project costs, and historical pricing data.
  • Identify opportunities for cost savings while maintaining quality and project requirements.

Skills & Experience

  • Degree or equivalent qualification in Quantity Surveying, Construction Economics, or a related discipline.
  • Previous experience within the structural steel, steel fabrication, or wider construction industry is preferred.
  • Strong commercial awareness with excellent numerical and analytical skills.
  • Proficient in estimating software and Microsoft Excel.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings and construction specifications.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and organisational skills.
  • High level of accuracy with strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively to tight deadlines.
