An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Quantity Surveyor / Assistant Commercial Manager to join an award-winning, market-leading structural steel specialist delivering some of the UK's most prestigious and technically challenging construction projects. This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious commercial professional looking to develop their career within a highly respected business, working alongside experienced commercial and project teams on large-scale structural steel packages.

The Role

You will play a key role in the commercial management of projects, helping to maximise profitability while protecting contractual entitlements throughout the project lifecycle. Key responsibilities include:

  • Supporting the commercial management of multiple structural steel projects
  • Preparing take-offs, material schedules, resource schedules, and cost value reconciliations
  • Managing and assessing variations and their commercial impact
  • Preparing contractual notices and commercial correspondence
  • Assisting with monthly valuations, applications for payment, and WIP reporting
  • Procuring subcontractors and managing payments and final accounts
  • Building strong relationships with clients, contractors, and internal project teams
  • Attending site meetings when required
  • Supporting the delivery of projects in line with commercial, contractual, health & safety, and quality objectives

About You

You'll be commercially aware, organised, and looking to build your career within a leading structural steel contractor.

Essential:

  • Experience as a Quantity Surveyor, Assistant Quantity Surveyor, or Assistant Commercial Manager within construction
  • Strong commercial awareness and understanding of contract administration
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
  • Strong IT skills, including Excel and Microsoft Office

Desirable:

  • Structural steel or specialist subcontractor experience
  • Knowledge of NEC or other standard forms of contract
  • Degree qualified (or working towards) in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline
