The Academy Scout will support the identification and recruitment of talented young players for Hibernian F.C. Academy pathway. The role is responsible for attending grassroots, school and academy football fixtures and tournaments to identify players who demonstrate the potential to progress within the club's player development model.
Working within the club's recruitment framework and philosophy, the successful candidate will contribute to a collaborative scouting network focused on identifying high-potential players who align with the technical, tactical, physical and psychological demands of the academy programme.
Key Responsibilities- Talent Identification & Recruitment
- Attend assigned matches, festivals and tournaments to identify emerging talent across designated age groups.
- Assess players against the club's player profiling criteria and recruitment framework.
- Submit accurate and timely scouting reports through the club's reporting processes.
- Identify players with the potential to progress into the Emerging Talent Centre and Academy pathway.
- Support ongoing player tracking and monitoring processes.
- Collaboration & Communication
- Work closely with Academy Recruitment staff and fellow scouts to support recruitment priorities.
- Attend recruitment meetings, CPD events and staff briefings where required.
- Communicate professionally and confidentially when representing the club at fixtures and events.
- Provide verbal and written feedback on identified players where requested.
- Administration & Reporting
- Maintain organised and up-to-date scouting records.
- Ensure reports are completed within agreed timescales and formats.
- Contribute to the maintenance of recruitment databases and player tracking systems where applicable.
- Safeguarding & Professional Standards
- Adhere to all safeguarding, child protection and data protection policies in line with Scottish FA guidelines.
- Represent Hibernian F.C. in a professional and respectful manner at all times.
- Maintain confidentiality regarding players, recruitment discussions and club operations.
- Essential
- Minimum Scottish FA Talent ID 1.3 qualification.
- Strong understanding of youth player development and talent identification.
- Good knowledge of Scottish grassroots and youth football.
- Ability to observe, evaluate and report on player performance effectively.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Reliable, organised and able to work independently.
- Commitment to the values and philosophy of Hibernian F.C.
- Full driving licence with access to transport.

- Additional Scottish FA Talent ID or coaching qualifications.
- Current PVG membership and safeguarding certification.
- Previous scouting or recruitment experience within a professional or grassroots environment.
- Experience using digital scouting platforms and reporting systems.
- Understanding of academy recruitment processes and player pathways.
