Bri-Stor Systems Ltd, part of The HEX Group, is the UK’s largest converter of lightweight commercial vehicles. We are a privately‑owned business employing over 250 people and have been operating for over 40 years. With a strong order book and forecast, Bri‑Stor Systems is looking to strengthen our engineering team by recruiting a Product Design Engineer.

The Role

To project manage the design and development of vehicle storage solutions to customer specifications, as well as offering mechanical engineering and technical support to the business and ongoing projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Take responsibility for the design, development and project management of vehicle storage solutions to customer specifications, in a timely manner and to a suitable standard.
  • Produce and maintain 3D CAD models to enable manufacture and also assist in visual concepts for customers.
  • Produce and maintain general assembly drawings and engineering drawings for both internal and external manufacture and reference.
  • Produce and maintain Bill of Materials for the mechanical element of projects.
  • Support in the production of Standard Operating Procedures for large running contracts.
  • Manage through and offer support to prototype/first‑off builds and ensure BOMs and drawings are updated.
  • Ensure the correct type approval certificates/legislation are being followed and in place for all mechanical components related to the project.
  • Offer technical support to the Sales Team at customer reviews and specification production.
  • Own each project and be the point of contact for a large number of interested departments.
  • Work with production and the shop floor team to produce and improve systems to streamline production and increase right‑first‑time.
  • Monitor whole project costs and carry out VAVE exercises where necessary.
  • Support in the ongoing development of the Engineering Department systems and procedures, and contribute to DFMEA activities.
  • Carry out any other tasks or duties deemed by the Company to be relevant at the time or beneficial to the business.
