We are seeking a skilled, organised and enthusiastic Art & Design Technology Technician to support the effective delivery of the Art and DT curricula. The successful candidate will play a key role in preparing materials, maintaining equipment, and supporting staff and pupils to ensure a safe, well-resourced and inspiring learning environment.
Hours: 29 hours per week. Contract: Permanent, term-time only: 39 weeks per year, includes 1-week Continued Professional Development per year (44.6 paid weeks per year).
Responsibilities
- Prepare materials, equipment and resources for Art and DT lessons
- Maintain, organise and manage stock and specialist equipment
- Ensure compliance with health and safety requirements, including COSHH and risk assessments
- Support practical lessons as required, under the direction of teaching staff
- Assist with displays, exhibitions and departmental organisation
- Carry out basic maintenance and repairs of tools and equipment
- Support the smooth day-to-day running of the Art and DT departments
The ideal candidate
- Experience working with Art and/or Design Technology and Textiles materials and equipment
- A strong understanding of health and safety in practical environments
- Good organisational and time-management skills
- The ability to work independently and as part of a team
- A flexible, proactive and solution-focused approach
- Experience working in a school or educational setting (desirable but not essential)
