The Henrietta Barnett School is seeking to secure an excellent singing teacher to join a community of self-employed Visiting Music Teachers from September/October 2026. We are looking for a well-qualified professional who has some experience of teaching students of secondary school age (11-18). The role is advertised as two full days of one-to-one teaching but could be shared between two suitable candidates. Visiting Music Teachers are self-employed and the contract for provision of lessons is between parents and the VMT. A VMT service agreement and arrangements for instrumental lessons are managed by the Music Administrator (Mrs. Nina Hirsch) who acts as a school liaison for VMTs. For any work involving running extra-curricular activities such as choirs, the successful candidate would be directly contracted by the school for this. The School
The qualities of the successful candidate will include:
- Advanced qualifications in teaching/vocal instruction
- Experience of preparing students for ABRSM exams
- Experience of directing choirs as this role also involves directing our Chamber choir which is currently for students in years 9 and above.
