We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Personal and Professional Development Tutor to join our student support team at The Henley College. This rewarding and student-focused role plays a vital part in helping our learners succeed - both academically and personally - as they prepare for life beyond college.
About the Role
Working closely with a number of student groups, you will deliver engaging sessions on a range of topics including wellbeing, careers, and university preparation. You'll also provide 1-to-1 support and play an important role in promoting attendance, monitoring academic progress, and encouraging personal growth. You will be a key link between students, curriculum teams and parents - ensuring a strong support network is in place and helping young people thrive during this important stage of their lives. Responsibilities
- Deliver engaging sessions on wellbeing, careers, and university preparation.
- Provide one-to-one support to students.
- Play an important role in promoting attendance.
- Monitor academic progress and encourage personal growth.
- Act as a key link between students, curriculum teams and parents, ensuring a strong support network.
Qualifications & Skills
- Good record keeping skills.
- Plan and deliver group activities.
- Assist students with their progression and produce references in line with college procedure.
- Excellent communication skills when liaising with a number of stakeholders.
- Experience working with or supporting young people (post-16 education experience desirable).
- Good IT skills, particularly Microsoft Office.
- Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
- The ability to build rapport and hold constructive, sometimes challenging conversations.
- Knowledge of safeguarding, GDPR, and confidentiality principles.
- A proactive, energetic outlook and a commitment to helping students progress.
- A basic teaching qualification (or willingness to work towards one).
