About the role

As a Quality Analyst, reporting into the Laboratory Manager, you’ll play a central role in carrying out various activities within our labs to support our brilliantly brewed products. This includes carrying out microbiological, analytical, packaging appearance & flavour analyses as well as maintaining & calibrating equipment utilised in the labs. You’ll also contribute to our TPM journey by providing opportunities for process improvements and quality improvements of our products.

Your key responsibilities include:

  • Ensure full compliance with health and safety standards in all laboratory activities.
  • Adhere to LabStar/ISO systems and Group Quality standards.
  • Conduct sampling and analysis of raw materials, in-process beer and finished products, including microbiological, chemical, sensory and packaging assessments using appropriate laboratory equipment and techniques.
  • Manage sample receipt, processing and dispatch in line with laboratory procedures, including coordination with external laboratories and suppliers.
  • Operate and maintain yeast culturing processes.
  • Maintain, calibrate and verify laboratory equipment (on-line and off-line) across site and satellite laboratories to ensure compliance with LabStar/ISO standards.
  • Use LIMS for accurate data management, reporting and trend analysis; provide training and advanced system support where required.
  • Interpret results, present findings at site reviews and recommend corrective actions where necessary.
  • Provide technical expertise in microbiological and analytical matters, supporting production teams and continuous improvement initiatives, including TPM and 5S activities.
  • Support investigations relating to product or packaging queries and conduct audits in line with Group and site audit plans.
  • Deputise for the Sensory Analyst when required.

From barley to bar, our Supply Chain produces high-quality beers and ciders, prioritising safety, sustainability and innovation to keep our operations running smoothly. You’ll be based in the Quality team, whose job is to ensure every single drop of our ciders and beers is packed with the consistent, tongue-tantalising taste that we all know and enjoy. The team is also at the centre of ensuring compliance throughout our cider & beer-making process as well as championing our safety principles.

Who we’re looking for

We’re seeking enthusiastic and robust individuals who can constantly prioritise and re-prioritise tasks, keeping colleagues updated on their actions in a way which instils confidence and trust. As well as the above, the ideal candidate will have:

  • Bachelors or Masters degree in Chemistry, Microbiology or similar science qualifications.
  • Brewing Diploma is highly desirable.
  • Prior experience working in Laboratories with a consolidated understanding of good laboratory practices (GLP).
  • Ideally worked in accordance with ISO 17205/ ISO9000 standards.
  • Strong knowledge of brewing & packaging processes is highly desirable.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
