Overview
Business Development Manager – East Anglia for Star Pubs, part of HEINEKEN UK. Location: field-based; due to the nature of the work, candidates should live in or near the East Anglia area. Salary: circa £55,000 base, plus full benefits. Contract: 12 month fixed term. Closing date: Sunday 21 September 2025.
About the role
As a Business Development Manager at Star Pubs, you’ll manage around 33 pubs within the East Anglia region (Cromer, Kings Lynn, Peterborough, Norwich, Colchester to Ipswich). You’ll work with a dedicated support team to build strong relationships with operators and lessees, delivering a first-class retail experience and driving the pubs’ success. This is a commercial generalist role with elective control over your diary and work/life balance. You’ll collaborate with Pub Operations, Estates Managers, and the Property Team to create and execute tailored business plans for each pub. Responsibilities may include recruiting new lessees, driving pub lettings, reviewing commercial terms, and rolling out brand and marketing initiatives. You’ll own the P&L for each pub in your portfolio, drive financial performance, manage costs, and identify opportunities to optimise revenue and profitability. You’ll design and implement innovative retail solutions to enhance the consumer experience. Prior experience in pub sector is a bonus, but candidates from other industries with strong customer focus and commercial acumen are welcome.
Note: the role emphasizes development and coaching over pure sales, suitable for those with previous area/regional operational management experience.
