An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Key Stage 2 Teacher to join The Heights Academy. The Heights Academy opened in September 2023 in a brand‑new build, and this is a unique and exciting opportunity to be part of the next stage of the journey of growth and development. Initially we are open to pupils in Key Stage 2 and Key Stage 3, but over time we will grow to cater for 116 pupils across Key Stage 2, 3 and 4. All of our pupils have an EHCP with a diagnosis of Autism.

The Class Teacher will support school activities where required, including attending educational trips, extra‑curricular activities and parents’ evenings, which may require some out‑of‑hours availability.

  • Be eager to develop excellent teaching practice and create a learning environment where all pupils can achieve their best.
  • Be committed to making learning experiences memorable and fun.
  • Be an excellent communicator with strong interpersonal skills and can work effectively as part of a team.
  • Be organised, professional and proficient, with excellent IT skills.
  • Work with the SENCO to ensure pupils with SEND are appropriately supported.
  • Use a range of inclusive teaching strategies, visual supports and positive behaviour approaches.
  • Work with the DSL and their deputies to ensure safeguarding is promoted.

This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and the amendments to the Exceptions Order 1975, 2013 and 2020. This post is covered by Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) and therefore the ability to speak fluent spoken English is an essential requirement for this role. An online search will also be carried out for all shortlisted candidates.
