Principal Health and Safety Consultant required for a 9-month fixed-term contract in Central London, supporting the relocation of a 2,000-employee corporate business to new facilities. This hybrid role includes 3 days on-site and 2 days remote each week. You will lead the end-to-end health and safety programme, covering pre-occupation compliance, building readiness, stakeholder coordination, safety assurance and post-occupation management.
Responsibilities
- Working in accordance with an established 45001 Management System.
- Leading the end-to-end health and safety mobilisation plan for the new building.
- Ensuring full pre-occupation compliance, including fire safety, statutory documentation, building services and accessibility.
- Reviewing and signing off key safety documentation, including RAMS, fire strategy and commissioning records.
- Acting as the primary health and safety lead across client, owner operator and on-site contractors.
- Providing expert guidance, challenging where appropriate and driving accountability across all parties.
- Leading on-site safety during move-in, managing risks, access and contractor activity.
- Establishing post-occupation health and safety systems, including audits, inspections, fire drills and compliance checks.
- Ensuring the building meets all UK regulatory requirements prior to handover and occupation.
- Supporting a safe transition into business-as-usual FM operations.
Qualifications
- NEBOSH Diploma (or Level 6/7 Health and Safety equivalent).
- CMIOSH preferred.
- ISO 45001 Lead Auditor qualification.
- Recognised fire safety qualification.
Experience
- Significant relevant or transferable Health and Safety experience, ideally including consultancy or client delivery/facing experience within corporate environments.
- Proven delivery of office moves, major workplace transitions would be advantageous.
- Experience conducting pre-occupation checks and supporting safe building commissioning.
This 9-month fixed-term Principal Health and Safety Consultant role offers £60,000-£65,000 pro rata, plus car allowance and full benefits.
