Building Regulations Principal Designer (BRPD) required to join a national construction company to deliver high-quality Building Regulations compliance and design risk management services in line with the Building Safety Act 2022 and applicable regulations.

BRPD responsibilities include:

  • Leading Building Regulations compliance across design stages, ensuring statutory duties are met and risks are managed.
  • Coordinating compliance strategy, design reviews and Building Control submissions.
  • Liaising with Building Control and other stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Building and maintaining strong client relationships, acting as a trusted advisor.
  • Leading meetings and ensuring project delivery aligns with scope, programme and expectations.
  • Supporting business development through bids, proposals, service growth and external representation.
  • Mentoring and supporting team members, overseeing technical quality and outputs.
  • Assisting with resource planning and contributing to team development.
  • Ensuring compliance with legislation, QA processes and professional standards.
  • Maintaining accurate compliance records and implementing regulatory updates.

Qualifications:

  • Degree in Architecture, Architectural Technology, Building Surveying, Engineering, or related discipline, preferred.
  • Membership of a relevant professional body (RIBA, CIAT, CIOB, CABE or equivalent) preferred.

Experience:

  • Experience in design, technical compliance, or Building Regulations advisory roles.
  • Proven track record delivering Building Regulations compliance across varied project types.
  • Strong knowledge of Approved Documents and functional requirements (Parts A–S as applicable).
  • Confident liaison with Building Control Bodies / Registered Building Inspectors.
  • Ability to review and interpret complex technical design information.
  • Competence aligned with PAS 8671 (or working towards).
  • Working knowledge of the Building Safety Act 2022 and Building Regulations.
  • Experience working on Higher-Risk Buildings (HRBs) is desirable but not essential.

This BRPD role is paying £70,000 - £75,000 plus pension and healthcare.
