We are looking to introduce a new team to conduct investigations into concerns where a registrant may have fraudulently or incorrectly gained entry onto our register ('FIE'). This is a new area of work for us and is part of our ambition to establish our in-house legal services across FTP.

The role will involve leading the small team to ensure that the cases are investigated in an effective and timely manner and that interim order risk is effectively managed.

Scope of Job
  • Lead, motivate and manage a team that is responsible for effective investigation and preparation of FIE allegations for the Investigating committee's consideration.
  • Effective allocation of cases to the case holding paralegals.
  • Manage team and individual performance. Coach and support paralegals and the case support officer to problem solve, overcome obstacles, plan time and workload effectively for smooth case progression.
  • Be accountable for the quality and timeliness of case progression of the FIE caseload.

Your principal duties and key responsibilities will be those set out below. In addition to those duties, the HCPC reserves the right to require you to undertake additional or other duties within your capacity as may from time to time be reasonably required and necessary to meet the needs of the organisation.

  • Embed and maintain culture and behaviours in the team that support the HCPC's values and continuous improvement.
  • Maintain a highly motivated team by providing strong leadership and effective management.
  • Effectively prioritise and manage the work of the team to ensure the best use of available resources to deliver the full workload to the quality and timeliness required.
  • Using available data and own analysis, support high performance of your team to ensure objectives are met.
  • Ensure that Interim order ('IO') risk is effectively managed across the team (including applications being made where necessary and ensuring KPIs are met in relation to preparing for IO reviews).
About the Department: FTP Directorate

The Fitness To Practice Directorate receives and investigates concerns about registrants' fitness to practise, incorrect or fraudulently procured entries onto our register, protection of title offences and provides an adjudication function through the HCPC Tribunal Service (HCPTS). We employ around 130 people, who are collectively responsible for the delivery of the HCPC's FTP and adjudication work. We manage an open caseload of approximately 2,000 cases across the department.

FTP Legal Services

Since April 2024, we’ve been growing the in-house legal services teams that sit within our FTP Department. Our in-house legal services now include a decision-making team, a presenting officer team, a FTP investigation case holding team, a Fraudulent Entry investigation team, a team who provide oversight for cases held by our External Legal Providers and a team who manage our substantive order review cases.
