As our in-house Fitness to Practise Legal Services function continues to grow, we're recruiting Paralegals to join two expanding teams and help deliver high-quality regulatory and legal services. We are currently looking to fill multiple vacancies (three permanent and three 18 month FTC positions); any application submitted in response to this advert will be considered for both roles as we're looking for candidates with similar core skills, values and behaviours.

The teams who, together, make up our Fitness to Practise Legal Services function are ambitious in our collective goal to improve the fitness to practise process for all case parties. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to public protection by supporting fitness to practise investigations and case progression activities. Working across a varied caseload, you will analyse evidence, support legal decision‑making, liaise with a wide range of stakeholders and help ensure cases progress fairly, efficiently and proportionately.

This is a fast‑paced and rewarding role requiring strong organisational skills, sound judgement, attention to detail and the ability to manage competing priorities while working within a regulatory and legal framework.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Managing and progressing a varied caseload in line with service standards and timescales.
  • Reviewing, analysing and evaluating evidence to support case progression and decision‑making.
  • Preparing case documents, instructions, reports and hearing‑related materials.
  • Identifying interim order risk, making evidence‑based recommendations and escalating matters appropriately.
  • Supporting hearings, investigations and other legal processes, ensuring matters progress efficiently and fairly.
  • Working collaboratively with colleagues, legal professionals and external partners to achieve positive outcomes.

Person Specification

We're keen to hear from candidates with legal, regulatory, investigations, case management or similar professional experience. Successful candidates will be able to:

  • Demonstrate relevant paralegal experience, or experience gained in a similar role requiring legal, regulatory, investigative or case management expertise.
  • Manage a high‑volume workload and prioritise effectively to meet deadlines.
  • Analyse complex information and make balanced, evidence‑based decisions.
  • Communicate confidently and professionally, both verbally and in writing.
  • Build positive relationships with a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Demonstrate excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.
  • Work independently while contributing positively within a team environment.
  • Handle sensitive and confidential information with professionalism and integrity.
  • Show resilience when dealing with challenging, complex or potentially distressing subject matter.
  • Demonstrate a genuine commitment to public protection and high‑quality service delivery.

Further details are available in the full Job Description and Person Specification.
