We are looking to recruit a Medical Receptionist/Administrator. The ideal candidate must have experience in a similar role. General Practice or NHS administrative experience is essential. Candidates must be flexible in their approach to work and be willing to work additional hours, as and when required by the Practice. Applicants must have good IT skills and be able to work well under pressure. Given the nature of this role, good communication, great people skills and an ability to work as part of a team are essential.

Main duties of the job

  • Be the first point of contact for all patients and visitors to the Practice, creating a friendly, welcoming and relaxed atmosphere.
  • Liaise with all patients, visitors, consultants and users of the surgery.
  • Book and manage all appointments.
  • General administrative duties such as emailing, filing, posting of letters, notes preparation, prescriptions and daily workload.
  • Processing incoming/outgoing post.
  • Ensure reception and waiting areas are kept tidy and clean at all times.
  • Scanning and filing of documents.

Headland Medical Centre is a small friendly practice. The surgery is a modern, purpose-built two-story building in the Headland area of Hartlepool. We look after over 5500 patients. The successful applicant will join our friendly and experienced administration and reception team.

Job responsibilities

The Receptionist/Administrator will provide an efficient service for patients and members of the practice. The post holder will ensure that all patients and visitors are welcomed to the practice in a friendly, compassionate and professional manner whilst adhering to the practice data and confidentiality policy. The Receptionist/Administrator will provide a comprehensive clerical support service to the administration and clinical teams in delivering high quality patient care and making a positive difference to the patient experience.

Experience

  • Excellent patient care, customer service and communication skills.
  • Previous experience of Reception/Administration in General Practice or within the NHS.
  • Good standard of literacy and numeracy.
  • Ability to work under pressure and prioritise own workload.
  • Experience of working with the general public.
  • Experience of working with SystmOne.
  • Experience of working in a GP Practice.

Qualifications

  • GCSE English and Maths.
  • General Practice / NHS Business Administration.
