We’re looking for an Assistant Executive Head Housekeeper who brings care, pride and purpose to everything they do and believes that true luxury lies in elevated and effortless hospitality. This role is about much more than maintaining our beautiful spaces; it’s about honouring The Headland’s heritage, creating a sense of warmth for our guests and colleagues alike and ensuring exceptional and consistent service is delivered across the department.
Working closely with the Executive Head Housekeeper, a key part of this role is to nurture and develop your team by providing clear direction, ongoing support and opportunities for growth while ensuring high standards of performance and collaboration are met.
Primary Responsibilities- Ensuring maximum guest satisfaction in all areas of Housekeeping.
- Overseeing the full lifecycle of team members, including recruitment, probation reviews, and regular check-in meetings.
- Supporting the Executive Head Housekeeper in creating and managing team rotas, ensuring they are fair and consistent for all staff members.
- Addressing any queries promptly in the Executive Head Housekeeper's absence and ensuring all issues are resolved effectively.
- Managing the HR EPS system, ensuring that team rotas are signed off within the required timeframes for payroll processing.
- Maintaining all agreed cleaning standards.
- Supporting with ordering & purchasing of chemicals, consumables and equipment requirements whilst ensuring that the budget is adhered to.
- Liaising with all relevant department heads and managers to ensure the smooth and efficient running of the housekeeping department, including overseeing cottages at times.
- Monitoring closely the condition and maintenance of all accommodation and public areas.
- Being responsible for the staff, stock levels, stock taking and control of Linen Room and Laundry.
- Maintaining personal contact with guests in dealing with complaints.
- Deputising for the Executive Head Housekeeper in her absence.
- Ensuring the ‘on the job’ training plan is adhered to and up to date at all times.
- Assisting the Executive Head Housekeeper in dealing with any staff welfare issues within the Housekeeping team.
- Segregating waste effectively, including recycling, general waste, food waste, and glass.
- Understanding our collaboration with the National Lobster Hatchery in Padstow and speaking to its importance when appropriate.
- Respecting The Headland’s sustainability goals and maintaining awareness of our partnership with EarthCheck.
- Previous experience in a similar hotel standard is highly desirable but not essential.
- A genuine passion for cleanliness and a ‘perfectionist’ approach to tasks.
- Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting, bending and standing for long periods of time.
