2nd Line IT Field Engineer – ÂŁ30,000 to ÂŁ35,000

The Role

Based from our Scunthorpe office, you will be part of an award-winning IT team responsible for supporting high quality, business-changing IT solutions at hundreds of our customers around the UK.

Responsibilities

Within this role, you will provide on-site and remote technical support to clients, resolving hardware and software issues. Install and configure hardware and software components such as servers, routers, switches, and other networking equipment. Set up and configure operating systems and applications according to user or business requirements. Perform regular maintenance tasks such as updates, patches, and backups to ensure system integrity and performance. Troubleshoot and resolve network connectivity issues. When not on IT field jobs your role is to support the service desk in accordance with 2nd Line Operations. This involves answering the phones, logging tickets correctly onto the PSA system and providing timely and high-quality technical support to end users both externally and internally. As a 2nd Line engineer will also provide coaching and mentoring to our 1st line team. Where necessary, escalate tickets and ensure a proper handover of tickets to the 3rd line team.

Knowledge & Experience (Required)

To be our successful candidate, you will possess the following:

  • A full UK Driving License and Vehicle
  • A huge passion for IT and technology.
  • Minimum 2 Years’ Experience in a similar role.
  • Strong organisation & communication skills.
  • A friendly, approachable, can-do attitude.
  • The ability to troubleshoot and solve problems quickly and efficiently.
  • A proven track record of resolving and managing critical incidents (P1’s)
  • Strong technical experience in;
  • Office 365 environments (Entra ID, Exchange, SharePoint, Teams, Intune & Autopilot)
  • Windows Server Environments (Active Directory, Exchange, File Server, Print Server, DFS, DNS, DHCP, HPE, RAID, iLo)
  • Network Troubleshooting (Firewalls, Switches, TCP/IP,DHCP,DNS,VLANS, Subnetting, SAN)
  • Windows Desktop Troubleshooting
  • Security Knowledge (Anti-Virus, Anti-Malware, Encryption, MFA Technologies)

Knowledge & Experience (Desired)

The below skills are not required to be successful, however would be beneficial to the role.

  • Have used HaloPSA for ticket management.
  • Have exposure and experience of RMM Platforms (Remote Monitoring & Management)
  • Experience with a ticket management system and an understanding of SLA’s and KPI’s.
  • Have a strong working knowledge of:
  • WatchGuard
  • Microsoft Security and Compliance Centre
  • Microsoft Hyper-V
  • Ubiquiti
  • Ninja Remote (Splashtop) &or Quick Assist
  • Hornet Security (or other backup solutions that backup VM’s and 365)

Beneficial Accreditations (No problem if you don’t have these already, you will be provided with training and support to achieve these within a set timeframe)

  • Microsoft certification (such as MS-900 or AZ-900)
  • Security+
  • Network+
