Female Maintenance Multi‑trade Operative

This role supports THW’s mission to provide safe accommodation and refuge for women and children fleeing domestic abuse. The Maintenance Multi‑trade Operative ensures that properties are maintained to a high standard, offering a safe, comfortable, and welcoming environment.

Responsibilities include:

  • Cary out general plumbing maintenance and repairs
  • Undertake carpentry and joinery tasks
  • Perform basic painting & decorating
  • Respond to day‑to‑day maintenance requests
  • Conduct regular inspections of fixtures, fittings, and building fabric
  • Maintain health & safety
  • Keep accurate records of maintenance work

Requirements:

  • NVQ Level 2 or 3 (or equivalent) in a relevant trade
  • Clean, full UK driving licence
  • Basic Health & Safety training
  • Willingness and ability to obtain an Enhanced DBS check

The ideal candidate will have several years’ practical multi‑trade maintenance experience in occupied residential settings, a proven track record of reactive repairs and regular maintenance work, and excellent communication skills.

Qualifications

  • Desirable: Prior experience in safe accommodation or working with women in vulnerable circumstances, supervising or coordinating contractors, ordering materials, managing small budgets
