This role will be based in London, UK and you are required to have the necessary right to work details prior to application.

The Senior Compliance Officer – Small Business reports to the Head of Compliance, GSI and serves as the primary Compliance business partner supporting the development and growth of the Small Business portfolio. The role provides specialist regulatory advice and oversight to ensure the business operates in accordance with applicable FCA and PRA requirements, internal policies and regulatory expectations. Working closely with underwriting, distribution, operations, product and leadership teams, the role supports the delivery of strong customer outcomes, effective governance and a culture of compliance.

The role is responsible for identifying and assessing regulatory developments, supporting the implementation of regulatory change, delivering compliance monitoring activities and providing practical, risk-based compliance advice to the business as it expands its SME offering.

Responsibilities

  • Regulatory Compliance & Advisory
    • Provide day-to-day compliance advice and guidance to UK SB leadership and key stakeholders on applicable regulatory requirements.
    • Support with FCA and PRA regulatory requirements.
    • Assess regulatory developments and emerging regulatory trends, identifying impacts on the business model and coordinating implementation activity where required.
    • Act as a trusted advisor to business leaders, providing commercially pragmatic solutions that maintain regulatory compliance while supporting business objectives.
  • Consumer Duty & Conduct Risk
    • Support ongoing implementation and enhancement of the company’s Consumer Duty framework.
    • Provide oversight and challenge regarding customer outcomes, fair value assessments and product governance arrangements.
    • Identify, assess and escalate conduct risks and customer outcome concerns.
    • Monitor management information and customer outcome indicators to identify emerging risks and trends.
    • Support vulnerable customer considerations and ensure appropriate customer-centric decision making across the business.
  • Governance & Regulatory Reporting
    • Support relevant governance frameworks, committees and oversight forums.
    • Prepare compliance reports, dashboards and management information for senior management and governance committees.
    • Escalate material regulatory issues, breaches and emerging risks in accordance with established governance processes.
    • Support regulatory engagements, information requests and thematic reviews under the direction of the Head of Compliance.
  • Third-Party & Distribution Partner Oversight
    • Conduct compliance due diligence and oversight activities relating to brokers, coverholders, third-party administrators and other distribution partners.
    • Support ongoing monitoring of third-party regulatory and conduct risks.
    • Identify and escalate concerns relating to third-party compliance and governance arrangements.
  • Complaints & Customer Insight
    • Review complaints trends, root causes and customer feedback to identify conduct risks and opportunities for improvement.
    • Provide compliance challenge and support to enhance customer outcomes and reduce recurring issues.
    • Support regulatory reporting and governance relating to complaints management.
  • Procedures
    • Ensures that all policies and procedures are adhered to.
    • Adhere to any common standards set across International and ensures that policies and procedures are adequately documented.
    • Undertake continued Professional Development and comply with International’s procedures.
    • Continue to embrace AI usage in scope of work effort.

Essential Requirements:

  • Experience: 7 years+ of compliance experience; 5 years+ SME market knowledge is required.
  • Reasonable standard of education.
  • Knowledge of FCA and PRA rules and guidelines relating to commercial and/or Consumers insurance and its underlying principles.
  • Chartered Insurance Institute (CII) or equivalent.
