This role will be based in London, UK and you are required to have the necessary right to work details prior to application.
Purpose of the job:As a part of the Marine and Energy Liability Team the candidate will help to underwrite a profitable ML/EL book. We are a customer centric organisation and the successful candidate will help to create strong customer outcomes while providing a quality service to our business partners.
Reporting Relationships:- Reports directly to Portfolio Manager for Marine and Energy Liability.
- Works in close co-operation with team colleagues.
- Use authority granted in Underwriting Authority Statement to execute on the London Market Marine and Energy Liability business plan.
- Provide assistance and technical underwriting support to the Marine and Energy Liability Underwriting teams.
- Develop and research business opportunities both through London Market brokers and Hartford International Offices.
- Develop and use technical expertise to enhance profitability of renewals and add profitable new opportunities to the book.
- Keep abreast of development of claims within the Marine and Energy Liability book and to liaise with the claims team as necessary to ensure appropriate settlement of these claims.
- Ensure compliance with Hartford best practice and policies and Lloyd’s regulations at all times.
- Act in the capacity of a PRA/FCA Approved Person with responsibility for controlled functions and as such complying at all times with the PRA/FCA Statements of Principle for Approved Persons.
- Assist in further development of systems for the monitoring and reporting of aggregate exposures.
- Help further develop and maintain technical pricing models.
- Help report to management, on a monthly basis, of developments in the London market Marine and Energy Liability accounts towards business plan and budget.
- Running and producing internal reports and figures.
- Contribute, as required, to the quarterly and annual reporting of underwriting results.
- Participate as required in various committees, including underwriting, delegated underwriting, operations and risk.
- Ensures that all policies and procedures are adhered to.
- Adhere to any common standards set across the company and ensures that policies and procedures are adequately documented.
- Undertake continued Professional Development and comply with The Hartford procedures.
