The Hartford's International Actuarial team are strategic business partners who are responsible for delivering expert consultation via pricing and other analytical tools, financial/reserving and capital modelling analysis. Our team's mission is to deliver objective, data-driven solutions with clear recommendations, embracing change to steer the organization in achieving its goals.

This Actuarial Leadership position has an important impact on the company's success, working in close partnership with our leadership in Strategy, Underwriting, IT & Operations and Data & Analytics, as well as other teams in The Hartford Insurance Group. This individual will be responsible for leading the pricing aspect of International's underwriting and digital transformation.

As well as having strong technical and analytical skills, this individual should be able to communicate effectively across technical and non-technical audiences and be able to influence business partners.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the pricing transformation agenda as part of the organisation's broader digital transformation strategy.
  • Work closely with project teams to define and implement a multi-year transformation roadmap, to enable efficient and effective pricing under a future state.
  • Act as a key influencer in shaping pricing transformation strategy and best practices across the enterprise.
  • Drive end-to-end delivery of pricing transformation initiatives, including process redesign, technology enablement, and automation.
  • Work closely with the Pricing & Portfolio Insights Lead and team, to ensure consistency in rating and approach throughout the transformation journey.
  • Support successful migration from legacy systems to modern platforms, minimising disruption and optimising performance.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to ensure seamless execution of transformation projects.
  • Champion cultural change by promoting adoption of new tools and methodologies across actuarial and pricing teams.
  • Monitor emerging trends in pricing technology and incorporate innovative solutions to maintain competitive advantage.
  • Support the design, delivery, and embedding of pricing and analytics dashboards and tools in relation to monitoring pricing transformation initiatives and impact.

  • Collaborate across functions—including Strategy, Underwriting, IT & Operations, Data & Analytics, and wider Actuarial teams—to support business deliverables.
  • Monitor and improve data quality, contributing to the development of procedures and tools that enhance accuracy and insight.
  • Drive process improvements while ensuring all work complies with governance, regulatory, and professional standards.
  • Communicate complex actuarial findings clearly to business partners, supporting informed decision-making and operational enhancements.
  • Demonstrate flexibility in responding to evolving business needs and ad hoc requests from stakeholders.
Experience & Skills
  • Fellow Qualification in IFoA (or equivalent experience).
  • London (Lloyd's) market experience is preferred but not required.
  • Knowledge of actuarial pricing and portfolio management techniques.
  • Experience implementing strategic pricing transformation.
  • Possess the ability to develop strong working relationships and the ability to interact with and influence our business partners.
  • Strong verbal/written communication skills: must be able to effectively communicate complex technical concepts in understandable terms to business partners.
  • Strong project management and teamwork skills; flexibility and willingness to adapt to changing priorities.
  • Demonstrate analytical skills and offer creative solutions to business questions.
  • Exhibit a process efficiency/continuous improvement mindset.
  • Strong Excel skills are assumed; candidates must demonstrate a proactive attitude toward learning new software tools and analytical techniques.
  • Experience in data visualisation is required, with an ability to communicate insights clearly and effectively.
  • Familiarity with AI-driven approaches to enhance analysis and automate workflows is increasingly valuable.
