The Hartford’s International Actuarial team is looking for a Senior Actuary to lead the pricing aspect of international underwriting and digital transformation, acting as a strategic business partner across the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the pricing transformation agenda as part of the organization’s broader digital transformation strategy.
  • Work closely with project teams to define and implement a multi‑year transformation roadmap, enabling efficient and effective pricing in the future state.
  • Act as a key influencer in shaping pricing transformation strategy and best practices across the enterprise.
  • Drive end‑to‑end delivery of pricing transformation initiatives, including process redesign, technology enablement, and automation.
  • Collaborate with the Pricing & Portfolio Insights Lead and team to ensure consistency in rating and approach throughout the transformation journey.
  • Support successful migration from legacy systems to modern platforms, minimizing disruption and optimizing performance.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to ensure seamless execution of transformation projects.
  • Champion cultural change by promoting adoption of new tools and methodologies across actuarial and pricing teams.
  • Monitor emerging trends in pricing technology and incorporate innovative solutions to maintain competitive advantage.
  • Support the design, delivery, and embedding of pricing and analytics dashboards and tools to monitor pricing transformation initiatives and impact.
  • Lead by inspiring a clear vision, coaching others, fostering collaboration, driving innovation, embodying accountability, and building trust across the business.
  • Collaborate across functions—Strategy, Underwriting, IT & Operations, Data & Analytics, and wider Actuarial teams—to support business deliverables.
  • Monitor and improve data quality, contributing to the development of procedures and tools that enhance accuracy and insight.
  • Drive process improvements while ensuring all work complies with governance, regulatory, and professional standards.
  • Communicate complex actuarial findings clearly to business partners, supporting informed decision‑making and operational enhancements.
  • Demonstrate flexibility in responding to evolving business needs and ad‑hoc requests from stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • Fellow qualification in the IFoA (or equivalent experience).
  • London (Lloyd’s) market experience is preferred but not required.
  • Knowledge of actuarial pricing and portfolio management techniques.
  • Experience implementing strategic pricing transformation.
  • Ability to develop strong working relationships and influence business partners.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, able to explain complex technical concepts to non‑technical audiences.
  • Strong project management and teamwork skills; flexibility and willingness to adapt to changing priorities.
  • Demonstrated analytical skills and creative problem‑solving ability.
  • Process efficiency and continuous improvement mindset.
  • Proficient Excel skills with a proactive attitude toward learning new software tools and analytical techniques.
  • Experience in data visualization is required, with the ability to communicate insights clearly and effectively.
  • Familiarity with AI‑driven approaches to enhance analysis and automate workflows is increasingly valuable.
