Teaching Assistant responsibilities include:
- Establishing rapport and respectful, trusting relationships with pupils, acting as a role model and being aware of and responding appropriately to individual needs.
- Assisting and supporting pupils, including those with special needs, in respect of personal, local and national learning strategies across the curriculum, as directed by the teacher.
- Ensuring all pupils are safe and have equal access to opportunities to learn and develop.
- Supporting pupils' personal programmes, relating to social, health, physical, hygiene, and welfare matters.
- Administering basic first aid and/or medication as required, following appropriate training and in line with school procedures.
- Promoting inclusion and acceptance of all pupils by encouraging them to interact with each other and engage in activities led by the teacher.
- Promoting self-esteem and encouraging pupils to act independently as appropriate.
- Providing feedback on pupils' personal needs as appropriate.
- Supporting the teacher in managing pupil behaviour, reporting difficulties as appropriate.
- Supporting pupils to understand instructions.
- Gathering and reporting information from/to parents/carers as directed.
- Being aware of pupil problems/progress/achievements and reporting to the teacher as agreed.
- Undertaking basic pupil record keeping as requested.
- Preparing the classroom as directed for lessons and clearing up afterwards.
- Assisting with the display of pupils' work.
- Preparing and maintaining equipment/resources as directed by the teacher and assisting pupils in their use.
- Providing routine clerical support for teachers, e.g. photocopying, filing, collecting money, checking deliveries and placing goods in stock and maintaining records of stock.
- Understanding the importance of inclusion, equality and diversity, both when working with pupils and with colleagues, and promoting equal opportunities for all.
- Upholding and promoting the values and ethos of the school.
- Implementing and upholding the policies, procedures and codes of practice of the school, including relating to customer care, finance, data protection, ICT, health & safety, anti-bullying and safeguarding/child protection.
- Taking a proactive approach to health and safety, working with others in the school to minimise and mitigate potential hazards and risks, and actively contributing to the security of the school.
- Participating and engaging with workplace learning and development opportunities to continually improve own performance and that of the team/school, subject to the school training plan.
- Attending and participating in relevant meetings as appropriate.
- Undertaking any other additional duties commensurate with the grade of the post.
- Working as part of a professional Teaching Assistant Team in our Academy Inclusion Hub.
- Being responsible for supporting child-initiated and adult-led activities based around the needs and interests of each individual child.
- Supporting the observation and assessment of the children.
- Working as part of a team to ensure each child feels safe and secure.
- Working in partnership with colleagues, parents and/or carers or other professionals.
- Having a duty of care and following relevant safeguarding procedures.
Monday to Friday. Shifts to be confirmed. 30 minutes lunch break.
