We are seeking to recruit a Sales Support Manager to join our team, initially as maternity cover, with a possibility of being full time. The role will be based in Birmingham, and will require some travel within the division, which includes the Midlands, Wales and South West of England. Candidates will have a background in healthcare, cosmetics or in high‑end retail, with a minimum of 5 years management experience, and a strong focus on driving performance improvement with their teams. As their main role will be to manage the performance of our clinic teams, candidates will ideally have previous clinic management experience.
Duties will include:
- Conducting clinic visits to observe day‑to‑day running of the clinic from a front‑of‑house and surgical service delivery perspective, including the manager’s brief, day setup, patient service, flow, observation of consultations, and feedback.
- Ensuring the clinic and treatment centre team’s provision of safe, effective, caring and responsive patient care in a high‑quality clinical environment is consistent, maximizing the financial and operational performance of the business.
- Overseeing and undertaking new manager inductions and introductions to our brands, including Optical Express, sk:n and The Harley Medical Group.
- Full involvement in the recruitment of staff, supporting Hospital/Clinic Managers as required.
- Ensuring at all times that clinics are presentable and maintain a high standard of tidiness and cleanliness, promoting the professional image of Optical Express.
- Ensuring all clinics/practices within their division have adequate support for day‑to‑day operations.
- Conducting select HR investigations, disciplinary hearings and any ad‑hoc HR meetings (probation reviews, flexible working applications, wellbeing meetings).
- Serving as the first point of contact for hospitals/clinics seeking discount or finance authorisation.
- Assisting other Sales Support Managers and Sales Directors during periods of absence or annual leave.
- Maximising conversion opportunities with patients to our premier treatments in both refractive and optical products, ensuring the clinic team influences and advises patients on the most suitable and appropriate solutions.
