The Harlequins Foundation is looking for a Foundation Sports Coach to join our delivery team on a freelance basis. This is a brilliant opportunity for an experienced and enthusiastic coach to deliver high-quality sports sessions across primary and secondary schools in South-west London, supporting young people to develop confidence, essential skills and a positive relationship with sport.

Rate: £20 per hour

Contract: Freelance, temporary

Location: In person, across South-west London

Boroughs: Hounslow, Kingston, Richmond, Croydon, Merton and Wandsworth

Hours: Part-time and flexible, with regular sessions available

Reports to: Regional Development Manager

The role will support the delivery and development of our schools-based programmes, including Move. Learn. Grow., Project Rugby, METTLE, SWITCH.

What you’ll be doing:

  • You will help deliver engaging sports coaching sessions across schools and community settings, working with young people from Key Stage 1 through to Key Stage 5.
  • You’ll also support the development of positive relationships with schools, grassroots clubs and local communities, helping young people transition into long-term participation in sport.
  • The role will also involve supporting holiday provision, contributing to monitoring and evaluation, and helping us capture the impact of our work across our communities.

We’re looking for someone who has:

  • A NGB Level 2 Coaching Qualification in any sport is required; however, if you don’t have one, we can support working towards getting one.
  • Previous sports coaching experience is preferred, and a driving licence would be beneficial.
  • Most importantly, we’re looking for someone who is passionate about using sport to make a difference and who can create inclusive, enjoyable and high-quality sessions for young people.
