Main duties of the job
As a Salaried GP, you will provide high-quality, patient-centred care through a mix of face-to-face, telephone and online consultations. Your role will include diagnosing and managing both acute and chronic conditions, prescribing safely, and supporting patients with preventative care and health education. You will work as part of a multidisciplinary team, contributing to clinical meetings, care planning, and the ongoing development of practice services. The role also involves maintaining accurate clinical records, adhering to NHS and practice guidelines, and supporting the practice in delivering safe, effective, and responsive primary care services.

We are looking for a motivated and patient-focused Salaried GP to join The Harefield Practice, a well-established and supportive GP surgery serving a close-knit community. This is an excellent opportunity to work in a practice that prioritises manageable workloads, continuity of care, and GP wellbeing. You will be part of a collaborative multidisciplinary team, supported by experienced clinicians and a strong administrative function, enabling you to focus on delivering high-quality patient care.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver a mix of face-to-face, telephone, and online consultations
- Manage both acute presentations and long-term conditions
- Conduct home visits where clinically appropriate (low volume)
- Prescribe safely and in line with current guidelines
- Undertake clinical triage as part of the daily workflow
- Structured clinics with 15-minute appointments
- Capped patient contacts per session to support safe working
- Daily workflow supported by triage and duty doctor system
- Protected admin time built into sessions
Multidisciplinary Working
You will work alongside a well-established team including practice nurses, HCAs, care coordinators, and social prescribers. This team approach helps reduce GP workload and improves patient care.
Administrative & Clinical Support
Efficient document workflow and coding support, dedicated admin team to minimise non-clinical burden, use of EMIS Web, clear systems for results handling, prescriptions, and referrals.
Quality & Governance
Participate in clinical meetings, audits, and quality improvement. Contribute to maintaining high standards in line with CQC and NHS requirements. Engage in significant event reviews and shared learning.
Professional Development
Supported CPD, appraisal, and revalidation. Opportunities to develop clinical interests or lead on areas of care. Potential involvement in teaching, mentoring, or service development.

Person Specification
- GMC registered GP with a licence to practise
- On the NHS GP Register

Experience
- Experience of working in UK general practice (including GP training)

- Understanding of clinical governance, QOF, and NHS primary care systems
- Experience as a qualified GP in a primary care setting
- Experience using EMIS Web (or similar clinical systems)

- Full registration with the General Medical Council (GMC)
